Already Approved?

After the Insurance company sends you a settlement offer, your claim has been approved. However, it is important to review the settlement with your roofing consultant to ensure it accurately covers the cost of repairs or replacement. Additional documentation and a contractor estimate can be provided to the insurance company in the event of a dispute when necessary.  The good news is that we have a team of experts that will review the settlement documents to make sure that the settlement offer is the right one for your home. Here are the basic steps that take place after your insurance claim has been approved:

Reviewing Documents

1. Review the Settlement Offer

  • After the adjuster completes their evaluation, the insurance company will send you a settlement offer. Share the settlement offer with your consultant. We will review the offer carefully to ensure it accurately covers the cost of repairs or replacement.

  • If you're not satisfied with the offer, you have the right to dispute it or negotiate. We can provide additional documentation, contractor estimates, and have the adjuster review the report through supplementation.

2. Project Scheduling

  • Once you’ve agreed to the settlement, the service agreement is drafted and signed and the scheduling of the roof replacement takes place. All materials as designated by the insurance scope get ordered and delivered to prepare for project day. Your consultant will guide you through the project day preparation steps to ensure your home and your family are protected through the duration of the work.

3. Roof Replacement Project

On project day the process of removing the old, damaged, or worn-out roof and installing a new roof takes place as indicated on the approved insurance scope. The steps typically involved in a roof replacement project include:

  • Removal of Old Roof: The old roofing material (such as shingles, tiles, or metal) is removed, along with any damaged underlayment or decking.

  • Preparation: The roof deck (the underlying structure) is inspected for any structural issues, such as rot or mold, and repaired if needed. This might include replacing damaged wood or reinforcing the structure.

  • Installation of New Materials: New roofing materials, such as shingles, are installed. This step includes the installation of new underlayment, flashing, and ventilation systems.

  • Final Inspections and Clean-Up: After the new roof is installed, the work is inspected to ensure proper installation, and the job site is cleaned up.

4. Certificate of completion

  • A Certificate of Completion is a formal document that verifies the successful completion of the insurance scope with documentation and photos of the project day and final results, issued after the job has been finished. It indicates that the project has met all applicable codes, regulations, and requirements and that the work is done to the satisfaction of the relevant authorities and it is sent to the insurance company to release the depreciation amount of the claim.
